This past week marked a huge milestone for me: my first training run since October 28, 2015. It was a humble reminder of how hard it is to get back into shape. I had completely underestimated the work it took to get started again and was in a lot of denial about my fitness. My roommate took a picture of my different-sized calves and that’s when I started to finally believe it. So even though it was frustrating to run just two miles at a slower pace than my half-marathon time from last October, I’m excited for the progress that’s to come. I’ll even post my six-week half-marathon training plan soon!
Another milestone was getting to play volleyball again, something I used to do for three hours ever Saturday night. It was nice getting back on the court and hanging out with my brother and friends. I bruised “like a peach” as my roommate said, but still managed to not drag the team down.
On Saturday, I also got a chance to explore downtown Ann Arbor a bit, something I didn’t take advantage of during my undergrad years. I picked up some stationery and cards from Hollander’s and Rock Paper Scissors (where I dropped my student ID, but they were nice enough to email me!) since I’ll be making good use of my address book. I also got some sock yarn from Spun to get ready from my first sock knitting project! Next, I got a Shinola journal made in Ann Arbor (with free monogramming!) for my travels this summer, which I’ll write more about in a future post! Lastly, I wound down to read at Mighty Good Coffee. Shopping local has its perks and I definitely recommend them! I was definitely spoiled 🙂
Here is my weekly spread with many check-boxes left unmarked:
